"[22] Having therefore obtained help of God, I continue unto this day, witnessing both to small and great, saying none other things than those which the prophets and Moses did say should come:
[23] That Christ should suffer, and that he should be the first that should rise from the dead, and should shew light unto the people, and to the Gentiles."
Outline:
➽ (1.) "That Christ should suffer..." [for the sins of the world]. Isaiah chapter 53.
➽ (2.) The Messiah (Jesus) would rise from the dead. Psalm 16:10.

Below are three prophecies from the Old Testament books of the Bible that Jesus Christ fulfilled. These are hinted at by Paul in Acts 26:23.
➽ (1.) "That Christ should suffer..." [for the sins of the world]. Isaiah chapter 53.
Jesus Christ suffered for the sins of the world. Isaiah prophesied (by the Holy Spirit) specific details about Jesus and his death in the book of Isaiah, chapter 53. (If you would like to know more about Jesus Christ, click here.)
Isaiah 53:1-8
"[1] Who hath believed our report? and to whom is the arm of the LORD revealed?
2. For he shall grow up before him as a tender plant, and as a root out of a dry ground: he hath no form nor comeliness; and when we shall see him, there is no beauty that we should desire him.
3. He is despised and rejected of men; a man of sorrows, and acquainted with grief: and we hid as it were our faces from him; he was despised, and we esteemed him not.
4. Surely he hath borne our griefs, and carried our sorrows: yet we did esteem him stricken, smitten of God, and afflicted.
5. But he was wounded for our transgressions, he was bruised for our iniquities: the chastisement of our peace was upon him; and with his stripes we are healed.
6. All we like sheep have gone astray; we have turned every one to his own way; and the LORD hath laid on him the iniquity of us all.
7. He was oppressed, and he was afflicted, yet he opened not his mouth: he is brought as a lamb to the slaughter, and as a sheep before her shearers is dumb, so he openeth not his mouth.
8. He was taken from prison and from judgment: and who shall declare his generation? for he was cut off out of the land of the living: for the transgression of my people was he stricken."
➽ (2.) The Messiah (Jesus) would rise from the dead. Psalm 16:10.
Psalm 16:10
"[10] For thou wilt not leave my soul in hell; neither wilt thou suffer thine Holy One to see corruption."
Jesus went down into the center of the earth where Hell is, but He went into Abraham's Bosom (a type of paradise), which is described in Luke 16. Abraham's Bosom was where Old Testament believers went after their bodies died. Jesus brought captivity captive and brought them up to Heaven (see Psalm 68:18 and Ephesians 4:8).
➽ (3.) Jesus Christ would show light to Jews and Gentiles. Isaiah 42:1-7.
Jesus fulfilled Isaiah 42:1-20. Isaiah 42:6-7 tells how Jesus would show light to Jews and Gentiles. In Luke 2:25-32, we read how Simeon held the baby Jesus and by the Holy Spirit prophesied how Jesus was the Savior of the world (Jews and Gentiles) and the light to Gentiles and the glory of Israel. Isaiah 42:1
"[1] Behold my servant, whom I uphold; mine elect, in whom my soul delighteth; I have put my spirit upon him: he shall bring forth judgment to the Gentiles."
Isaiah 42:6-7
"[6] I the LORD have called thee in righteousness, and will hold thine hand, and will keep thee, and give thee for a covenant of the people, for a light of the Gentiles;
[7] To open the blind eyes, to bring out the prisoners from the prison, and them that sit in darkness out of the prison house."
Luke 2:25-32
"[25] And, behold, there was a man in Jerusalem, whose name was Simeon; and the same man was just and devout, waiting for the consolation of Israel: and the Holy Ghost was upon him. 26. And it was revealed unto him by the Holy Ghost, that he should not see death, before he had seen the Lord's Christ. 27. And he came by the Spirit into the temple: and when the parents brought in the child Jesus, to do for him after the custom of the law, 28. Then took he him up in his arms, and blessed God, and said,
29. Lord, now lettest thou thy servant depart in peace, according to thy word:
30. For mine eyes have seen thy salvation,
31. Which thou hast prepared before the face of all people;
32. A light to lighten the Gentiles, and the glory of thy people Israel."
Isaiah 42:18-20 was fulfilled by Jesus Christ in Matthew 12:15-20.
Isaiah 42:18-20
"[1] Behold my servant, whom I uphold; mine elect, in whom my soul delighteth; I have put my spirit upon him: he shall bring forth judgment to the Gentiles.
[2] He shall not cry, nor lift up, nor cause his voice to be heard in the street.
[3] A bruised reed shall he not break, and the smoking flax shall he not quench: he shall bring forth judgment unto truth."
Matthew 12:15-20
"[15] But when Jesus knew it, he withdrew himself from thence: and great multitudes followed him, and he healed them all; [16] And charged them that they should not make him known: [17] That it might be fulfilled which was spoken by Esaias the prophet, saying,
[18] Behold my servant, whom I have chosen; my beloved, in whom my soul is well pleased: I will put my spirit upon him, and he shall shew judgment to the Gentiles.
[19] He shall not strive, nor cry; neither shall any man hear his voice in the streets.
[20] A bruised reed shall he not break, and smoking flax shall he not quench, till he send forth judgment unto victory."
