➤ Jim Carrey's Strange Personal Beliefs About Reality and Life // ➤ Jesus Revealed the Meaning of Life in John 17:3

Jim Carrey's Strange Personal Beliefs About Reality and Life

Jim Carrey has made some strange and unusual statements about his views on the nature of reality, the meaning of life, and his view of his identity. He told a reporter these strange words in September 2017:

"There is no me. There is just things happening. Here's the thing: It's not our world. That's the key. We don't matter. We don't matter. There's the good news." (Wittmer)

At the Toronto Film Festival Jim Carrey spoke about his strange statements, saying:

"As an actor you play characters, and then if you go deep enough into those characters, you realize that your own character is pretty thin to begin with. You suddenly have this separation and go: 'Who's Jim Carrey? Oh, he doesn't exist actually.' ..." (Wittmer)

Also in September 2017, a reporter asked Jim Carrey some questions about acting. During his response, Carrey expressed more of his strange beliefs. Here is a brief quote from this informal interview:

"... people will say well, 'I have a soul.' You don't have a soul. There's no you. But, I, I feel like there is a soul and it includes everything, and when you wake up in the morning, and you feel like 'I'm the universe. ...'" (ET Canada)

[As an interesting and disturbing note, Jim Carrey admitted that he was possessed by a spirit when he played Andy Kaufman, a deceased comedian, in the 1999 documentary-drama about Kaufman titled "Man on the Moon." In 2017, "Jim & Andy: The Great Beyond," came out. It is a documentary about Jim Carrey's spirit possession and his convincing performance of Kaufman both on and off the stage. It included footage of Carrey "convincingly" portraying Kaufman even while he was off the set. I haven't seen Man on the Moon or Jim & Andy: The Great Beyond. It would be better not to. Read this article (at this link) about actors, including Robin Williams and Johnny Depp, admitting to being possessed by "demons."]

Jim Carrey's beliefs about the meaning of life are likely influenced by his personal experience in Hollywood as a highly-popular actor. He has had money, girlfriends, fame, and success from the world's point of view. But, he has said it is all meaningless. He has said that there is no purpose to life. How could a wealthy, award-winning, famous actor have no purpose and no true happiness in life?

The ancient book of Ecclesiastes reveals some profound truth about the nature of our existence on this planet. It also shows why a popular actor could wrongfully believe that there isn't any meaning to life.

Ecclesiastes 1:1-3

"[1] The words of the Preacher, the son of David, king in Jerusalem. [2] Vanity of vanities, saith the Preacher, vanity of vanities; all is vanity. [3] What profit hath a man of all his labour which he taketh under the sun?"

Ecclesiastes 1:14 says: "[14] I have seen all the works that are done under the sun; and, behold, all is vanity and vexation of spirit."

But, Ecclesiastes also gives the answer to the meaning of life.

Ecclesiastes 12:13 says: "[13] Let us hear the conclusion of the whole matter: Fear God, and keep his commandments: for this is the whole duty of man."

Jesus Christ revealed also the meaning of life in John 17:3: "And this is life eternal, that they might know thee the only true God, and Jesus Christ, whom thou hast sent."

There is beauty and order in God's creation and there is a great purpose in life. It is not meaningless. Each man and woman, and each boy and girl, has a distinct personality, a soul, and a reason God created him or her. Jesus Christ revealed it to us. It is to know God in a personal, intimate way and to have deep fellowship with Him through Jesus Christ.

The information for building a cellphone came from a mind. The information for building a house came from a blueprint, which came from someone's mind. Likewise, the information in each of our DNA strands came from a mind, the mind of God the Creator. There is a great purpose to life. It is knowing God as your best Friend and as your Abba Father. I pray that you find your purpose in Jesus Christ today by making Him your personal Savior and Lord, and by trusting only in His blood to wash away your sins.
