Arriving at the First Destination

Wind billowed the square sails of the galleon Red Jasper as it sailed across the placid sea. The moon’s reflection undulated with the water as the three-masted ship passed across the watery wilderness. Stars covered the night sky like an array of diamonds on black velvet. 

The ship had been at sea for five days after leaving the port town of Blanco Risco. Pablo Campo-verde, the captain of the ship, had told his passengers that an island was about a two days voyage from Blanco Risco. He planned to stop at that island before continuing the voyage across the ocean to the mysterious country of Viviente Muerte. That country was the last stop before eight pilgrim knights--Pablo’s passengers--would reach the gate of the Kingdom of Heaven.

“Land ho!” a lookout said from the crow’s nest on the mainmast (i.e. the tallest mast).

[Crow’s nest: This was a platform with a wooden railing on which the lookout, a sailor, had a good view of what lay ahead. The crow’s nest was often located partway up the mainmast.]

A sailor on the half deck (or stern deck) cried up to the lookout, “Henrico, where do you see land?”

[Note: The half deck was at the rear (or stern) of the ship. It rose above the upper gun deck and provided a decent view. The half deck was the top of the aft castle. The aft castle was a raised portion of the deck in the stern (or rear) of an old sailing ship. The forecastle is located near the bow.]

When the lookout had given him the directions, the man on the half deck turned toward the south east and drew out a spyglass (i.e. hand-held telescope). Sure enough, he could see land. An island rose up from the ocean, resembling a grey rock covered with dark-green vegetation. A mountain rose high above the jungle-cloaked land mass. It appeared to be about three leagues away. [Note: One league is about 3 miles in distance.]

The Lord of the Rings was the sequel to J.R.R. Tolkien’s 1937 novel, The Hobbit. This book series took shape in Tolkien’s mind in the late 1930s. One day as Tolkien was grading papers, he found a blank sheet of paper and a sentence came to his mind: “In a hole in the ground there lived a hobbit” (See "Who was Tolkien?" in Works Cited). He wrote it down and began to ponder what a hobbit was and what kind of hole it lived in. From that day forward, J.R.R. Tolkien began a story that would become very popular all around the world.

Released to the world in 1977, Star Wars became a powerful phenomenon which drew millions of people into its profound influence. But, its power to captivate the minds, imaginations, and hearts of countless millions of people is not something that can be lightly ignored. Christians need to be aware of the messages and themes in Star Wars, especially since the Bible warned us about deceivers and evil people who would conduct amazing signs and wonders to deceive, if possible, God's people. 

The darkness in our world is increasing. We must be vigilant, as Christians, to watch and pray ... that is we need to know what God would show us personally and to pray as God leads us by His Holy Spirit. In the dark waters of this world, we need God's Holy Spirit and His Holy Bible to guide us when we consider the popular things in our culture and world.

After leaving witchcraft, the late David J. Meyer became a believer in Jesus Christ.

Years after his conversion, David J. Meyer said this in an online article:

‘When real witches have sabats and esbats and meet as a coven, they greet each other by saying "Blessed be", and when they part, they say "The Force be with you." Both sides of this "Force" are Satan. It is not a good side of the force that overcomes the bad side of the force, but rather it’s the blood of Jesus Christ that destroys both supposed sides of the satanic "Force."’ (Meyer) (Emphasis added) [End quote] (See the Works Cited.)

Likewise, in Star Wars, “the Force” has a “dark side” and a “light side”. Luke Skywalker uses the “good side” of the Force to battle Darth Vader who uses the “dark side” of the Force. “White” witches use what they call “white magic,” and wizards in the dark arts use “black magic”.

Magic (also known as “magick”) is sorcery and witchcraft. The Bible has this to say about such practices…

Deuteronomy 18:9-12 (emphasis added)

“[9] When thou art come into the land which the Lord thy God giveth thee, thou shalt not learn to do after the abominations of those nations.

[10] There shall not be found among you any one that maketh his son or his daughter to pass through the fire, or that useth divination, or an observer of times, or an enchanter, or a witch.

[11] Or a charmer, or a consulter with familiar spirits, or a wizard, or a necromancer.

[12] For all that do these things are an abomination unto the Lord: and because of these abominations the Lord thy God doth drive them out from before thee.” [End quote] [Underlining / Bold font added]

Philippians chapter 4, verse 1 reveals a profound truth about God’s love for us, which God put into the heart of Paul for the church at Philippi.

Philippians 4:1 --  “[1] Therefore, my brethren dearly beloved and longed for, my joy and crown, so stand fast in the Lord, my dearly beloved.” [End quote]

In Philippians 1:8, Paul wrote this:

Philippians 1:8 -- “[8] For God is my record, how greatly I long after you all in the bowels of Jesus Christ.” [End quote]        

{Note: Paul longed after them in the nature of the deep, compassionate, yearning love of Jesus Christ. (Bowels refers to deep love, yearning, earnest desire, deep feelings). Jesus Christ and God the Father have this deep, yearning love and compassion, and deep feeling for the Church and for the whole world. See John 17:23.}

Paul, who was once called Saul, was a former persecutor of Christians before he had a powerful vision from Jesus, revealing His love and truth and that Jesus is the Messiah and Son of God.  Shortly that vision, Paul became a born-again Christian and began preaching the Gospel to Jews and Gentiles. He was transformed from a zealous Pharisee who sought to imprison and stop Christians from spreading the Gospel to a godly man who preached the very Gospel he once despised.

So, when Paul wrote to the Philippian Christians calling them “… my brethren dearly beloved and longed for, my joy and crown,…”, he was speaking from the heart of Jesus, who gave Paul that love for the Church. It is the same type of love that Jesus has for the Church, which is His Bride. We are dearly loved by Abba Father God. He longs for us and He considers us to be His joy and crown.

In Isaiah 62, God calls the believers (Jews and Gentiles who believe on Jesus, the Messiah) His crown, His delight, and His Bride who He rejoices over.

Isaiah 62:3-5 says:  “[3] Thou shalt also be a crown of glory in the hand of the LORD, and a royal diadem in the hand of thy God. [4] Thou shalt no more be termed Forsaken ; neither shall thy land any more be termed Desolate : but thou shalt be called Hephzibah, and thy land Beulah : for the LORD delighteth in thee, and thy land shall be married. [5] For as a young man marrieth a virgin, so shall thy sons marry thee : and as the bridegroom rejoiceth over the bride, so shall thy God rejoice over thee.” [End quote]

[Hephzibah: ‘my delight is in her’.] [Beulah: ‘married’.]

Isaiah 62:11-12 says: “[11] Behold, the Lord hath proclaimed unto the end of the world, Say ye to the daughter of Zion, Behold, thy salvation cometh ; behold, his reward is with him, and his work before him. [12] And they shall call them, The holy people, The redeemed of the Lord : and thou shalt be called, Sought out, A city not forsaken.” [End quote]

Again, look at what the Holy Spirit had Paul write.

Philippians 4:1 --  “[1] Therefore, my brethren dearly beloved and longed for, my joy and crown, so stand fast in the Lord, my dearly beloved.” [End quote]

Imagine if Jesus said these words. And, He really did. Jesus said the above message through Paul. And, not only does Jesus and Abba God love us, but God also gives us fullness of joy right now. All we need to do is just believe, and seek to know, and desire to know God intimately as a Friend and Abba Father.

Having True Joy in Jesus

We give some verses, below, about true joy, which found only in Jesus Christ. This joy is received by simple faith and by desiring to know Jesus Christ.

Psalm 16:11 says: “Thou wilt show me the path of life : in thy presence is fulness of joy ; at thy right hand there are pleasures for evermore.”

There were different factors that brought about the end of the Aztec Empire. The foremost factor was their bloodshed culture. Thousands of innocent victims were murdered in human-sacrifice rituals to honor the gods of the Aztecs. Consequently, tribes which had lost family members to the murderous Aztec religion were willing to assist Hernán Cortés in fighting their oppressive overlords. With the assistance of the disgruntled native people, Cortés was able to bring a quick end to the Aztec Empire.

In this article, we will see how America is following, to some degree, in the footsteps of the Aztecs. That may sound very strange to you, but please bear with me as we examine some factors that led to the demise of the Aztec Empire. We will attempt to show how these are related to America.

What Catholics Don’t Want You to Know About Purgatory

Mark Hart, the Executive Vice President of Life Teen, a Catholic youth outreach program, wrote this statement on his website:

"… Catholics still very much believe in Purgatory (Catholics who follow the Church, that is and not “their own” set of beliefs). Purgatory is a temporary state of purification where imperfect saints have the effects of their sin purged.”   [End quote] (Hart).

Scott P. Richert, a Catholic author and editor, wrote:

“Through penitential practices, prayer, works of charity, and the patient endurance of suffering, we can work through the temporal punishment for our sins in this life. But if any temporal punishment has been left unsatisfied at the end of our life, we must endure that punishment in Purgatory before entering Heaven.” [End quote] (Richert). (Posted on Sept. 6, 2018).

The above quotes are verbatim. Catholics believe in Purgatory, which is said to take place after a Catholic dies. According to Catholic teaching, purgatory is a place of torment and suffering. Augustine of Hippo, one of the founders of Catholicism, said:

"That there should be some fire even after this life is not incredible, and it can be inquired into and either be discovered or left hidden whether some of the faithful may be saved, some more slowly and some more quickly in the greater or lesser degree in which they loved the good things that perish, through a certain purgatorial fire." [End quote]. ("Handbook on Faith, Hope, and Charity" c. 421 A.D.) (The quote was taken from: "Purgatory: What …”).

 According to Catholic “church fathers,” purgatory is a place of suffering which supposedly cleanses deceased Catholics of the “stains” of their sins which they did on earth.

To support their belief in purgatory, Catholic websites refer to extra-Biblical writings, such as the Second Book of Maccabees and the writings of “church fathers.” They also take a few random verses from the Bible, here and there (out of context). But, take a look at what Colossians chapter 2 says.

What the New Testament Says

The Apostle Paul wrote:

[Colossians 2:8-15]

"8. Beware lest any man spoil you through philosophy and vain deceit, after the tradition of men, after the rudiments of the world, and not after Christ. 9. For in him dwelleth all the fulness of the Godhead bodily.

10. And ye are complete in him, which is the head of all principality and power: 11. In whom also ye are circumcised with the circumcision made without hands, in putting off the body of the sins of the flesh by the circumcision of Christ: 12. Buried with him in baptism, wherein also ye are risen with him through the faith of the operation of God, who hath raised him from the dead.

13. And you, being dead in your sins and the uncircumcision of your flesh, hath he quickened together with him, having forgiven you all trespasses; 14. Blotting out the handwriting of ordinances that was against us, which was contrary to us, and took it out of the way, nailing it to his cross; 15. And having spoiled principalities and powers, he made a shew of them openly, triumphing over them in it." [End quote].

1. Introduction

There are some important things that the devil (Satan), who is your enemy, doesn’t want you to know about Heaven (or the third Heaven, the paradise of God). Many people have listened to the devil’s lies instead of God’s Holy Word (the Bible). The Holy Bible describes the beauty of Heaven and tells us who can enter Heaven, and who cannot. The Word of God reveals to us truth that gives us the ability to experience a taste of Heaven while still living here on earth.

In this article, we will see who can live in Heaven, and who cannot. We will see what Heaven is like, and what it is not like. One thing we know for sure, Heaven is not like earth. It is perfect, sinless, holy, and perfectly beautiful. (See Isaiah 35:10, Revelation 21:4, and Rev. 21:27 ). There is no sickness, disease, sorrow, pain, or death in Heaven. All is peace, joy, happiness, and rest. Pain is gone. Misery is gone. Boredom is gone. All that is of the earth is gone. Only the basic personality of a believer remains essentially the same, but the believer has been transformed to look like an angel of God (See Luke 20:34-36).

Like the angels, a Christian in Heaven will live forever, will never die, and will be able to worship and praise God in His glory and beauty. A Christian in Heaven will see God’s face and enjoy God’s intimate fellowship in a deeper way than he or she can on planet earth. But, even on planet earth, we can experience deep fellowship, and friendship, and closeness with Abba Father God through Jesus Christ. And, that is what Abba Father God desires, as scripture verses such as Deuteronomy 33:3, Jeremiah 31:3, Psalm 16:11, 1 Corinthians 1:9, 1 John 1:3-7, John 17, John 14, John 15, and so on declare.

1 CORINTHIANS 1:9

“9. God is faithful, by whom ye were called unto the fellowship of his Son Jesus Christ our Lord.” [emphasis added] [end quote]

LUKE 20:34-36

“34. And Jesus answering said unto them, The children of this world marry, and are given in marriage : 35. but they which shall be accounted worthy to obtain that world, and the resurrection from the dead, neither marry, nor are given in marriage : 36. neither can they die any more : for they are equal unto the angels ; and are the children of God, being the children of the resurrection.” [emphasis added] [end quote]

Heaven is a beautiful place located in a different dimension far from the earth. It is full of joy, peace, harmony, and happiness far beyond anything most people experience on this earth, in this dimension in which we live. There is no sickness, pain, suffering, or sadness in Heaven because Heaven is perfect and without any sin or imperfection.

Synopsis

Europe has been invaded, the superpower across the sea is no more, and the country of "Baltania" is controlling Europe through communistic puppet governments. Under the oppressive cloud of communism, a small group of underground Christians faces a powerful crime organization bent on their capture and destruction. 

Under this heavy, oppressive cloak, Kevin Kramer, a 30-year-old, and Maritza, his attractive, 27-year-old girlfriend, must decide who they will serve as they fall in love with each other, start a romantic relationship, and try to evade the unrelenting and dangerous members of a criminal organization, which seeks to kidnap underground Christians to sell to the secret police.

Together with some friends, Kevin and Maritza must do their best to avoid being captured as they learn to trust God and follow His guiding hand in these last days just before the rise of the Antichrist. This fast-paced story is designed to be fascinating. But, don't just take our word for it... 

[Note: Baltania is a fictional country within the Eurasian land mass. At one time, it had a communistic past. During a third world war, communism revived in this country as it's armies conquered Europe. Since we do not want to point fingers at any particular country, we will not name this country or coalition of countries.]

"Encountering a Problem"

 Beneath a Forest

Three gangsters, dressed in dark tactical gear, were standing at the bottom of a staircase inside a concrete room, which was partially filled with crates and boxes stacked against the walls. As the crooks had first entered the room, they had seen that the old, florescent shop lights in the ceiling were on. To the man called Wolf, the humming lights revealed that someone or some people had been down there not long ago. 'Christians were here,' Wolf thought to himself as he looked about the room.

However, where the Christians had vanished to was still a mystery to the tall, blond, muscular man. It seemed to him that the only way out of that room was by the stairwell, which he had just descended through.

But, the wooden crates and metal boxes stacked against the wall got Wolf thinking. 

He began walking along the wall, keeping himself at an arm’s length from the containers. As he walked halfway around the room, Wolf saw nothing amiss until his blue, attentive eyes noticed a thin, dark gap between the edge of a crate and what appeared to be a door in the concrete wall behind it. ‘What is this?’ Wolf thought as he drew a small LED flashlight from a pocket.

Shining the flashlight beam into the gap, he instantly found out that it was a partially-concealed tunnel entrance. ‘This is no doubt where the Christians went,’ Wolf thought. 'Now, they are trapped. And, I will let none of them escape.'

[We will now go to the beginning of the story where Kevin Kramer is heading home after finishing his shift at a factory in the fictional town of Kühnburg, Germany.]

Kühnburg, Germany

It was an overcast and rainy day. Sheets of precipitation splattered against the pavement and pelted the tan jacket of Kevin Kramer. The thirty-year-old walked through the puddle-filled streets of the old town of Kühnburg, Germany, hoping to soon be out of the rain and back in his apartment where it was dry and warm. He walked with a slight limp, which he tried to ignore, as he composed a text message on his smartphone. Engrossed in texting, he didn’t notice an armed, Baltanian soldier who had just emerged from a brick building where a law office was headquartered.

Kevin bumped into the soldier and then quickly backed up, startled at seeing who it was he had ran into. The soldier glared at him coldly and said, “You idiot, watch where you’re going.”

“I’m sorry, sir,” Kevin said, swallowing hard, trying not to betray the anger he felt toward that soldier. He could tell that the man was a few years younger than he and in top shape. Attacking a soldier would be foolish, regardless of the man’s physical condition.

“What is your name and occupation?” the Baltanian soldier said in perfect German as he pulled out a small electronic tablet from trouser pocket. A stylus was clipped onto the device, and he removed it quickly before pressing a button to activate the tablet.

The grey LADA Largus Cross slowed as it reached the outskirts of the small logging town of Sikorsky, Russia. Surrounded by pine trees and a vast, Siberian wilderness, Sikorsky felt like the last place of civilization for many miles. But, it was not completely alone. While small, Sikorsky's population of 3,000 was large compared to that of the small town of Gryaznov, several miles away, which had a population of only 800 people.

Chapter Forty-Three

“Meeting the PLA Soldier”

Sheng, a former PLA soldier, had traveled with his friends through a jungle in Vietnam. They had found an entrance to an underground base, which was connected to a cavern system. But, Sheng had felt claustrophobic and was tired of being underground. He had excused himself and had hurried back through underground tunnels and up stairways until he had reached the surface of the jungle.

Enjoying the fresh air, he had gone on a walk through the trees down some faint trails until he had run into a group of PLA soldiers. The soldiers had quickly arrested him, seeing he was not wearing the gear a PLA soldier was supposed to wear. Sheng had discarded it shortly after trusting only in Jesus to save him.

But, since Sheng had made the mistake of going away from God’s best will, he had been captured by the PLA. By a miracle of God, the PLA soldiers had released Sheng and other Christian prisoners they had captured in Vietnam. The soldiers had left the former captives and retreated down a jungle trail, disappearing into the jungle. We will pick up the story where Sheng is on the trail with his new Christian friends. A short while after all the PLA soldiers had left, a single Chinese soldier had suddenly come running down the trail toward the Christians, armed with a Type 95 machine gun.

Sheng found his heart beating fast. Part of him wanted to run into the dense jungle foliage and hide, but something seemed to be telling him to stay. He watched as a communist PLA soldier, armed with grenades and a bullpup Type 95 machine gun, ran down the path through the jungle, with his face directed toward Sheng and the six other Christian men with him.
