Artificial Intelligence (A.I.) and Transhumanism Are Not Possible Because Intelligence
Comes from God, the Creator (robots, AI, supercomputer, mark of the
beast)

This article has five sections:

1. Robots exist because mankind made them, but they cannot become human.

2. Robots cannot be as smart as man because only God can give intelligence.

3. Artificial Intelligence is impossible because intelligence resides within the soul, in the mind, and robots do not have souls.

4. Transhumanism is impossible because transhumanists believe that man can become a god.

5. Transhumanism is preparing the way for the Antichrist of Revelation.

1. Robots exist because mankind made them, but they cannot become human.

The most advanced robot with a human-like appearance is called "Sophia" from Hanson Robotics. It has the ability to translate speech into computer code which can be processed by its computer "brain". It can respond to questions by way of using a database of words and statements from which sentences can be matched to a person's question or statement to give the appearance that the robot is "thinking" and responding to human interaction.

Ben Goertzel, the designer of the robot's computer "brain", said that "Sophia" doesn't have the intelligence to form its witty responses (Gershgorn). Quartz (a news company) writes that Sophia "... can be programmed to run different code for different situations." (Gershgorn). The robot can match prewritten statements with words people speak to it (Gershgorn).

Quartz also stated that the Sophia robot has "... an image recognition algorithm..." [which]  "...can detect a specific person’s face, which can then cause another algorithm to pull up possible pre-written phrases. ..." (Gershgorn).

The idea that a robot could become sentient or intelligent like a human being is impossible to realize because electricity and circuitry or any other system of computing and processing information has no soul and no mind. In other words, a robot or a computer is a glorified calculator.

We cannot create human beings from the elements under our feet. Only God can do that. The best we can do is build machines that can follow complex processes and algorithms to process data fed into their computer processors. But, these machines cannot possibly think, or reason, or be self-aware like humans can.

2. Robots cannot be as smart as man because only God can give intelligence.

Intelligence is defined as "understanding" (Webster). Understanding includes "Sympathetic awareness or tolerance" in its definition (Oxford). Only humans, some animals, angelic beings, and God have true intelligence and understanding. With animals, intelligence is, of course, limited and simpler than human intelligence. But, God is the Creator of all animals, angelic beings, humans, and all matter and energy.

Robots do not have and cannot have sympathy, or true intelligence, or understanding. They can process data and can come up with responses, but they cannot understand emotions like a human or an animal can. They are not self-aware.

3. Artificial Intelligence is impossible because intelligence resides within the soul, in the mind, and robots do not have souls.

When God created man, He breathed into him, and the Bible says that man became a living soul.

Genesis 2:7 says: "[7] And the LORD God formed man of the dust of the ground, and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life; and man became a living soul."

In this verse, breath is the Hebrew word neshamah. It is defined as "blast, that breaths, inspiration, soul, spirit". It really means spirit, which is the breath of God.

The word soul is the Hebrew word nephesh. According to Strong's Exhaustive Concordance, it is "From naphash; properly, a breathing creature,..."

Robots cannot breathe, feel emotions, truly think, or have love for others. But, animals can do all these things to a limited extent, and people more so.

4. Transhumanism is impossible because transhumanists believe that man can become a god.

Arthur C. Clarke, a science fiction author, said: "It may be that our role on this planet is not to worship God but to create him." (Clarke) [See Genesis 3.]

(Arthur C. Clarke. Click for source.)
Julian Huxley said: "I believe in transhumanism: once there are enough people who can truly say that, the human species will be on the threshold of a new kind of existence, .... It will at last be consciously fulfilling its real destiny." (Huxley) (Transhumanism in New Bottles for New Wine (1957) p. 13 - 17.)

Transhumanists desire to make it impossible for humans to die. They want to cure every problem that the human body encounters, and even prevent aging. Proponents of transhumanism believe that they can "evolve" humans into what some call "posthumans" or "superhumans". It really is a belief that humans can become powerful gods, which are supposed to be "superior" to regular humans and able to live forever, or for a very long time.

This is clearly a belief that defies God and His Holy Scripture. The Bible refers to the goals of transhumanism and the thirst to become a god or to worship a false god in Romans chapter 1.

Romans 1:19-25

"[19.] Because that which may be known of God is manifest in them; for God hath shewed it unto them. 20. For the invisible things of him from the creation of the world are clearly seen, being understood by the things that are made, even his eternal power and Godhead; so that they are without excuse: 21. Because that, when they knew God, they glorified him not as God, neither were thankful; but became vain in their imaginations, and their foolish heart was darkened. 22. Professing themselves to be wise, they became fools, 23. And changed the glory of the uncorruptible God into an image made like to corruptible man, and to birds, and fourfooted beasts, and creeping things.

24. Wherefore God also gave them up to uncleanness through the lusts of their own hearts, to dishonour their own bodies between themselves: 25. Who changed the truth of God into a lie, and worshipped and served the creature more than the Creator, who is blessed for ever. Amen."

Romans 2:5-6

"[5.] But after thy hardness and impenitent heart treasurest up unto thyself wrath against the day of wrath and revelation of the righteous judgment of God; 6. Who will render to every man according to his deeds:" [End quote]

God will have to judge those who serve idols, including the idol of self-worship or man-worship. Transhumanism is clearly condemned by God as something He will have to judge. Since we know that God will judge those who hold to this ungodly view, we can know that mankind will not be able to exploit transhumanism to its supposed potential. Additionally, the Bible makes no mention of man-made super-humans. Rather, the Holy Scripture (in Genesis 6) speaks of giants, whose fathers are fallen angels and mothers are human women. (We will look into this concept further, in section 5 at this link.).

5. Transhumanism is preparing the way for the Antichrist of Revelation.

The Antichrist in the book of Revelation is called the beast. He is worshiped by all who do not receive Jesus Christ as their personal Savior and Lord. Being a man-like entity called the beast, this person is not fully human. He actually has power which can be called "superhuman". I believe that the Antichrist is a demonically controlled puppet (like the giants from Genesis 6). I will show you why I believe this in this section.

Read more of this section here.

For the sake of brevity, I have put the fifth section in another article. See the link above.
